  • Overview

    Gables Residential is looking for an Accounting Manager for the daily operations of its Investments Accounting team.   The candidate will be an integral player in providing accurate and meaningful reporting for a leading multi-family, premier apartment developer.   This role will report directly to the Investments Controller and will work closely with the Director of Investments Accounting.


    JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  Financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities for multiple projects in various stages of development and construction, including general ledger transactions, job cost, and review of accounts payable.


    Accounting Close

    • Processing of month-end journal recurring entries and accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
    • Preparation of monthly financial reports.
    • Review and tracking of property tax payments.
    • Calculation of monthly overhead allocations, and interim true-ups.

    Draw Processing

    • Preparation of monthly Lender draw packages for review by Assistant Controller or Director.
    • Work with Project Coordinators and Project Managers to ensure proper compliance with accounting procedures related to job costs. Coordinate timing of monthly Owners’ draws and Lender requests.
    • Submission /distribution of completed monthly loan draw requisition packages to Lenders and JV Partners.
    • Maintenance of effective and collaborative Lender and internal customer relationships.

    Cash Management and Accounts Payable

    • Supervision of accounts payable staff and functions.
    • Review and approval of invoices in WebCenter (electronic document management system).
    • Management of project cash flow, including confirmation of receipt of loan and equity funding, coordination of transfers into proper accounts, and release of monthly project disbursements.
    • Bank account reconciliations
    • Banking maintenance, including set up of new accounts and account closure.

    System Maintenance and Support

    • Accounting system support, including setup of new business units, general ledger accounts, cost codes, and pursuit costs, ensuring compliance with company policy.
    • Assistance with system trouble-shooting and liaison with IT in resolving issues.


    • Recording of new transactions, such as land acquisitions and joint venture closings. Transfer of pre-development costs to project business units.
    • Monitor and supervise staff workload, productivity, and ongoing development.
    • Assistance with year-end audit preparation and document collection.
    • Other ad hoc projects, as assigned.





    Bachelors Degree with a major in Accounting or Finance. 




    A minimum of five years in the accounting field with sound understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. Must have previous experience with job cost accounting and financial reporting.

    • Knowledge of a variety of systems; the ability to adapt to various accounting programs.
    • Experience with Oracle/ JD Edwards preferred
